Medicare for new arrivals

Medicare is the publicly funded universal health care system in Australia.

You can find out how to enrol and whether you are eligible to enrol here.

You will need to provide documentation to prove you are eligible for Medicare, so be sure to check the requirements. You will also need an address to have your Medicare cards posted to.

To enrol, you need to complete a Medicare Enrolment Form. This can be posted, emailed or given in in person to a Services Australia office that offers Medicare services.
